May 2006 LWRP Status Report

Exciting News!  On August 9, 2005, the Dobbs Ferry Village Board adopted the LWRP and the LWRP Local Consistency Law. The document is currently sitting on the desk of the NYS Secretary of State, awaiting his signature which will deem the LWRP fully approved. In the meantime, the Village has begun to implement the plan. In 2005, the Village applied for two grants from the State to help defray expenses for feasibility studies for shoreline stabilization, RiverWalk, a canoe/kayak launch and a fishing pier at Waterfront Park. To date, we have received one of the grants and we are waiting to hear word on the second grant. There will be more information on these projects in the near future as we begin to implement the first grant. Stay tuned.

Dobbs Ferry’s LWRP, a comprehensive plan for the local waterfront and downtown areas, represents over seven years of enthusiastic participation and hard work by scores of Dobbs Ferry residents.  Dobbs Ferry can truly be proud of this LWRP.  It will serve the Village well as a blueprint for the future enhancement, protection, preservation and development of Dobbs Ferry’s waterfront areas.  Our LWRP will be, and already is, a model for other riverfront communities in the Hudson River Valley.

    Next steps to follow.
