For Immediate Release
RINGLING BROS., AVRIL LAVIGNE, AND MAYOR'S SEAT COME TO THE GALA
February
26, 2003
How would you like to see Ringling Brothers Barnum & Bailey
Circus from a skybox stocked with refreshments? Or take a
limousine with three friends to see Avril Lavigne at Nassau
Coliseum? Or how about dinner in Manhattan, enjoying a
Broadway show, and spending the night at a fine hotel? Or
maybe you'd like to test your power-wielding skills and
become Mayor of Dobbs Ferry for a day?
These opportunities can be yours if you attend the Dobbs
Ferry Schools Foundation Applause Gala on Friday, March
14th. The annual event is shaping up to be more exciting
than ever.
This year, Applause is the chosen theme: applause for the
teachers and students of Dobbs Ferry who are being
recognized and honored throughout the evening. Our purpose
is to raise money for our schools while ensuring a great
time for all.
We have gathered a variety of tantalizing items and events
for bidding in both silent and live auctions. From beauty
makeovers to digital cameras, and from country home
getaways to organic chickens, there's something to tempt
every taste.
Start celebrating the end of the workweek at Tappan Hill at
6:30 pm with
cocktails and appetizers as you browse the silent auction
and enter to win raffle prizes. At 8:00 pm, enjoy Abigail
Hirsch's incomparable cuisine while being entertained by
Dobbs Ferry's very own Reynie Epstein and Stephanie Karpell,
directed by Jayce Alexander of Law & Order fame. To aid
digestion, take a break with espresso and sweets, as you
get another chance to place your final bids in the silent
auction. Then, back to the dining room for dessert and the
high drama of the evening - the live auction.
All of the fabulous aforementioned items, and more, are
reserved for the highest bidders. The grand finale is the
drawing of the winning raffle ticket for the Morris Mini
(tickets are still available - go to www.DobbsFerry.com).
Every year, the Dobbs Ferry Schools Foundation raises money
to fund special initiatives and programs in our schools.
This year, we are working hard to support the Leveled
Libraries at Springhurst Elementary School. We also hope to
kick off the fund for a drive to refurbish the high school
auditorium, help acquire instruments for the district's
music programs, and support the acquisition of a portable
stage for Springhurst.
In the past, the DFSF has supported the purchase of
computers and technology; sponsored OVATION, the
after-school music program, and provided funding for the
television studio. We have offered grants to teachers for
innovative enrichment programs as well as cultural arts
projects: visiting artists, performers, architects and
authors.
Support your schools! Have a memorable evening! Come home
with fantastic stuff! Join friends and neighbors at the
DFSF Applause Gala at Tappan Hill! See you at 6:30 pm,
Friday, March 14, 2003.
