There are three categories of grants available that enable educators to apply for funding, including program support, staff development, and large initiatives.  Please read the general  introductions below, and then select the application that meets  your needs.  Further information about each grant opportunity is explained in the downloadable application forms.

1. Teacher Grants:  The Dobbs Ferry Schools Foundation invites teachers and departments to seek support for innovative and  exciting classroom projects that will enrich the learning experience for our students.  Applications may include:  teacher training, residencies, research programs, field trips, and creative projects.  Grants range from small-scale proposals of less than $1,000 to grade or department initiatives of up to $3,000.  The DFSF has two application deadlines each year, in the fall and  spring.  The next deadline for grant submissions is October 12, 2007. The Spring application deadline will be May 16, 2008.

2. Koide Professional Development Grants:  The purpose of the Sumi Lynn Koide Memorial Fund is to support teacher development through underwriting attendance at seminars, conferences, training programs  and workshops.  Individual grants generally range between $500 and $1000, although there could be several awarded each year.  Applications are accepted on a rolling basis during the academic year, with a May 16, 2008 deadline this year.

3. Large Scale Initiatives:  The DFSF supports broad initiatives at  the district level initiated by administrators or principals.   Projects can include new technologies, equipment, large-scale  research programs and school-wide initiatives. Grant awards start  at $4,000 and range upward, depending on funds available.  Examples  of past grants include the Springhurst kindergarten playground,  SmartBoard technology, and the International Baccalaureate program.  These grants are considered after the spring fundraiser, and no later than the spring application deadline of May 16, 2008.
