FREE DOWNTOWN BUSINESS DISTRICT PARKING THROUGH AUGUST

Update on Dobbs Ferry Downtown Parking

Dear Dobbs Ferry Residents,

As you may know, earlier this month the Village learned that the technology that powers our parking meters was due to expire any day, rendering the meters inoperative. The Mayor and Board of Trustees made a decision to use ParkMobile as the only option for paying for parking in the streets of the Downtown. The Board takes feedback from citizens seriously and appreciates receiving emails that clearly articulate a range of community concerns.

At last night’s regular Board meeting, the Mayor and Trustees had a vigorous discussion about various possibilities and welcomed comments from the public. The Board has decided to defer a final decision on parking while the Village Administrator consults with an expert to identify a full range of options.

In the meantime, in an effort to ease concerns about the rapid switch, the Board voted to adopt the simplest possible temporary solution: eliminate parking fees in areas of the downtown while we evaluate longer term solutions.

Between July 13 and August 31, parking will be free on Cedar and Main Streets and at the municipal parking lots behind Village Hall and on Cedar and Oak Streets.

The existing two-hour parking limit will be strictly enforced.

Please note that on all pay-to-park areas other than those listed above, the only way to pay for parking will be ParkMobile. This includes the Waterfront, High Street, Palisades Street, and the side streets in the downtown. All other parking rules remain in force and the use and rules for existing parking permits remain unchanged.

The Mayor and Board hope that this not only eases concern but facilitates a great summer in the Downtown.
