Municipal Operations

Local Declaration of Emergency issued on March 17, 2020. This allows us to take actions to secure the public health, safety and welfare of our residents.

Village Hall:

Village Hall offices are open and services are fully operational.

We are taking a number of COVID-19 related precautions:

  • If conducting administrative affairs, residents need to enter Village Hall through the rear entrance of the building. Only enter through the front entrance of the building for police business.
  • Anyone entering the building must wear a mask.
  • All must register name and contact information for contact tracing purposes.
  • Only one person permitted in the administrative office vestibules at a time.
  • Please use hand sanitizer provided throughout the building.
  • Public restrooms are closed.
Emergency Services

Our First Responders (Police/Fire/Ambulance) are here for you as always. If you or your family have been diagnosed with COVID-19, we ask that you voluntarily contact our fire department to let them know so that our first responder personnel can adequately prepare should they or other emergency responders need to assist you. First responders in other cities have contracted the virus when answering service calls resulting in the quarantine of entire departments. We all recognize why this would pose a challenge for our community. Call (914) 693-0310 and leave a message. Our fire department will inform our ambulance corps and police departments. Alternatively, if you call 911 you can let the dispatcher know or place a sign/note on your front door to alert our first responders to take infection-prevention precautions before entering your home or business.

Police

The Police department will continue to be open 24/7. The non-emergency number is (914) 693-5500.

Sanitation

Your garbage must be placed in a receptacle. This is always the rule, but we will strictly enforce in this containment period. Your garbage will not be collected if it is placed on the curb in bags.

Recycling must always be placed in appropriate receptacles - no plastic bags! Please put recycling out on the correct day - Wednesday (or Tuesday night after 8pm).

Sale of compost kits and bags have been moved to the Administrative office of Village Hall. A full kit costs $20 which includes kitchen bin, outdoor bin, and 25 compostable bags. You can buy bag refills for $2.50. The drop-off site remains next to the DPW building at 1 Stanley Avenue.

Bulk waste collection has resumed - put it out on the second day of your garbage collection.

Yard waste collection has resumed.
